I am researching my father's family tree.
The Benton family start's with a william henry benton married unknown
have found the marriage on the free bdm website just need to buy
the certificate.
William henry benton had a daughter sarah elizabeth Benton born around 1859 wisbech.Sarah benton married alfred gamblin the son of
william gamblin and Elizabeth image both william henry benton and william gamblin worked as shipping merchant's for a shipping company.
Sarah elizabeth benton and alfred gamblin had 8 children one of them their daughter make up my father's line an annie gamblin born 1893 wisbech cambs,Annie gamblin married a herbert sollitt around 1908-1911,Herbert sollitt was born 1890 guisborough to a sarah sollitt
born 1846-1850 bugthorpe east riding yorkshire.
My father's mother was florence hilda sollitt born 1912 and married a
james william eric stebbings born 1901 southery they had 6 children
my father ivan stebbings was the 5th born.

hi,
im not entirely sure of this yet but i think some of my family might have a benton connection, my great great grandfather may have married a benton in 1885, his name was John Rogers. im not sure where she was from or even her first name!
what info do you have on bentons in cambridgeshire? im starting from scratch with them!

Thanks for the info on the Benton family i have since found them in the 1841 census.
I have found them in the 1881 census but not the 1851.
William henry benton's father was a john benton born 1809 wisbech,cambs his parent's were a william and alice benton.
I need to apply for the birth of john and his wife sarah children born later then 1837 to see what sarah benton's maiden name was.
The interesting fact about the benton's was that most were in the shoe trade maybe they were all related if i can go up with the marriage of william and alice benton the parents of john.
John benton died in 1892 thetford as they moved to norfolk.
