Sir William Payne
« on: Wednesday 10 August 05 23:35 UTC (UK) »

Hi I am new at this so please excuse the mistakes. I have an old family tree that was done in the 1940's. I have found some or quite a few mistakes in it. My ancester's name is Sir William Payne, Knighted by King George 11, in 1737, Tempsford, Bedfordshire, England. There are also three other Paynes listed at the start of the Tree. They are as listed: Sir William Payne: John Payne, Ancester of Bishop Payne: Robert Payne, Fanquier County, Virginia: George Payne, of Goochland and Dan River, Virginia. My question is ---Are these four men brothers? Any help would be greatly apprecated. Also what was Sir William knighted for?  Thank you in advance Katherine Marie Hurley, MODERATOR COMMENT:email address removed to avoid spam.
