Hi Rob,

On FreeBMD there is a marriage of John Hauxwell to Elizabeth Laking in 1855 in Leyburn, which is near to Bellerby. The gro ref is Dec 1855, Leyburn  9d 905, in case you would like to order a certificate.  www.frebmd.org.uk contains 8 reference to Hauxwell's in Leyburn at present. No birth of an Elizabeth though. However as i am going to archive on wednesday i will check the banns and baps for you

Kind Regards

Paula

I really appreciate your help..I have been looking for this family for 5 years, so you will know how much it means to me. If you go back for another visit, could you check the LAKING family, Elizabeth's baptism, or her father's  David's marriage, anything would be appreciated. I will let you know approx.date for Eliz.'s baptism...I do not have the records on me at the moment,....Rob

Hi Rob,

Stumbled across this snetry in teh baptisms for Spennithorne, dont know if he is one of your but will let you make that judgement

May 190 1853 Hauxwell Francis occ Husbandman married Jane Simpson. both of full age His father Christopher Hauxwell occ Corn Factor? her father Thomas Simpson. Witnesses John Hogs and Darah Fallow?

Also here is the baptism of Elizabeth

Hornby - 30 nov 1834 Elizabeth Lakin daughter of Ann Laking of Hunton occupation single woman recorded by Rev H Rigg according to teh certificate of Geo Anderson - Vicar.

Also here is the marriage of David Laking

Hornby - 28 oct 1812 David Laking married Mary Welburn (Im pretty sure of this surname) both of this parish  by Banns by Nicolas Bourne Officiating Minister. she signed with a X. Witnesses John Thorntree and Mary Slater.

The baptism of Elizabeth Hauxwell doesnt show in Hornby. You will need to buy her birth certificate which should say where they lived at the time.

I have still to sort out taht date for the marrige of Frances Hauxwell and Bartholomew and then we shoudl be up tod ate

Hi Paula, thanks for the info re Eliz.Laking's birth..it appears David & Mary Laking  are Eliz.'s grandparents, and Ann is her unmarried mother,  well done.  I have found Ann's birth..30-7-1815 Hornby...but not sure on her marriage. Don't worry about Frances Hauxwell info....but Elizabeth Hauxwell was born in Bellerby c 1857, father John, mum Elizabeth, would you have access to births in Bellerby ?.Merry Xmas and Happy New Year Paula...you have been a great help....Rob

Hi Mike, my family, Eliz.& John Hauxwell and children arrived in WA in 1875, John went on to SA and Eliz. and 4 children boarded  'Georgette' in 11/1876 and all drowned, when the boat sunk.   Someone in England is related to your Pickard family, if you send me a personal message I will put you in touch....or you can find them on Genes Reunited uk....Cheers   ..   Rob
