Books about the history of Suffolk?
« on: Sunday 14 August 05 16:11 UTC (UK) »

Having ground to a halt with finding more family members, I want to start to place the ancestors in a historical context.  There's lots of information about national events but I would like to make it more local than that.

Any suggestions for books about how Suffolk fared?  I've got family going back to the 16th century so anything from then til the present day would be useful.

Thanks,
Monica

Later same day - I've discovered www.suffolklocalhistorycouncil.org.uk/
What a difference it makes to google "local history" instead of just "history"!  This site has a series of articles from past magazines but I'd still appreciate any suggestions for books.

I have a thread on the Hertfordshire board that is dedicated to books about Herts that members have found useful.

Would you Suffolk RootsChatters like something similar on the Suffolk board?
