Hi there, Can anyone help me with this mystery ? Amy Scriven ( born Alveley 1870) married William Carroll ( aged 31- son of deceased Charles Carroll) at Alveley Church in 1895 They had two children - Ann born 1895 and Charles born 1897. According to Alveley Burial Register, Amy, dies 12th February 1906 and is buried a few days later. Then the mystery seems to begin - The burial register records the following - CARROLL WILLIAM, of Bridgnorth Workhouse, buried September 15th 1906 aged 45. But I can find no mention anywhere of what happens to the two children ! What usually happened in these circumstances ? Any help much appreciated alveleyhistorian

The records of the Bridgnorth Workhouse are held at the Shropshire Archives http://www.shropshire.gov.uk/research.nsf
Holdings include Guardians' minute books (1859-64, 1884-1930); Creed register (1884-1931); Apprentice indentures (1847-87); etc.
Maybe The Archives can help you?
