Enjoying the silence

Hi, I've just been to Leicester records office, and I couldn't find the information I was after. I was just wondering if anyone here could shed any light? I'm after William Hudson and Dorothy Goodwin. They were, according to their marriage information "residents of the parish" (Shepshed) in 1769. However if you presume them to have been born about 20 years before, which I did, I found no record of them at all. I spanned the years 1745-1751. Does anyone have Shepshed baptisms on CD, that could do a name search or something? Any advice would be gratefully recieved. Thanks for your time.

There is a Dorothy Goodwin birth on IGI for 1842 in the general area. Maybe they were older than 20 when they married.

Hey again Burto
I've also got Hudsons from Shepshed in my tree. Mike from Leicester gave me this list of burials. I'm sure he won't mind me passing them on ...could be your William in 1830 maybe?

Not awful sure actually - but this is a direct line for me. I am descended from Hannah Hudson baptised in 1799 to Joseph and Mary. There is a marriage of a Joseph Hudson and Mary Staniforth in 1796. Now....William and Dorothy had a Joseph baptised 1781 which would mean he was pretty young if this is him. Still some work to do on that line

Hi Heather, I'm descended from John...the one who was buried aged 57, presumably Joseph's brother?

And here's more burials - Dorothy and maybe a daughter?
12 Jul 1822 Dorothy HUDSON 29 Leics Shepshed, St Botolph 31 Jan 1826 Dorothy HUDSON 77 Leics Shepshed, St Botolph
Many thanks to JillJ for digging these up for me! At least you now have an approx birth year for William and Dorothy.

Hi all, mind if I join in here, Sorry I've only just noticed this thread. My husband is also descended from the Hudsons of Shepshed. He is a descendant of James, the one who was buried in Mar 1856. The only problem although William and Dorothy are the only possibles for parents he cannot trace the birth/baptism. James must have been born before the marriage in November 1769. (It seems many of the people in my husband's line from shepshed were born the wrong side of the marriage).
Regards
Pauline
