Hello Eileen
Any chance you could narrow down the search?
Any particular parish?

Paul, They come from Rutland, around the Glaston area. Got william 1854 any help would be very useful. Eileen. Ok Eileen so we have narrowed it down to Glaston.
I have only found one family in Glaston in 1841.
HO 107/898/5
PAGE 2
BRITTAIN James 45 AG LAB BORN IN COUNTY Y BRITTAIN Susanna 45 Y BRITTAIN James 20 Y BRITTAIN George 12 Y BRITTAIN Caroline 10 Y
I know its a different spelling but we do have that problem throughout the whole census.

Hello again Eileen, you also mentioned RAGDALE in one of your PM's to me. Does this mean the BRITTON family ended up there in Leicester?
Like I said before Mike from Leic is the man to ask for that part of the county!!
Paul
I'll PM him for you!

OK GRO Index gives these marriages
Surname First name(s) District Vol Page Marriages Dec 1852 Brittain James Uppingham 7a 543
King Louisa Uppingham 7a 543
Woodcock Helen Uppingham7a 543
So it would appear she was actually called Helen WOODCOCK married in the Uppingham area.
