hY luv, can I ask you how you know David's mother may have been named Abigail? Have you got a death certificate for David, if so what does it say for his mother's name? If you haven't got a DC I suggest you purchase one as it will have his parent's names on it along with his age, although this can't be taken for granted as I have found to my cost. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Hi again,
Thanks for the effort Falkyrn & GEN10
I knew it was a long shot but am glad that the BVS avenue has been explored!
This is a huge missing piece for me and I am sure all fellow searchers can empathisize, it is driving me crazy!
I cannot say for sure that David's mother was indeed "Abigail".
David Thomson married Mary McCombie in 1845 in Old Machar Parish in Aberdeenshire. They went on to have 3 children and immigrated to Canada in around 1855. I have not been able to find David's death schedule here in Canada as our vital statistics are very poor until well into the 1880's and he was dead by then.
I only have hearsay/family lore that David's mother was "Abigail" but, I am starting to question that supposed fact! Maybe it was a middle or second name or the name she simply went by although I do not think Abigail is a short form for any name?
I would order David's sister, Helen's baptism entry from Liff-Benvie Parish Forfarshire which appears at Scotlandspeople however it only lists father William Thomson so I am not sure if her mother is going to appear on the entry? Do you think it might?
I could not find a marriage for one William Thomson and any Abigail, circa 1805-1815 anywhere (Scotlandspeople, IGI) and that is why I am questioning her actual christain name.
Supposedly William Thomson died and left a young son David, daughter Helen and wife"Abigail". Abigail supposedly went on to marry Archibald Herd sometime after 1820. But again, I cannot find a marriage for Archibald Herd and any Abigail.
I found a birth for a William Herd in Liff, Forfarshire in 1825 whose father was Archibald Herd but again no mother listed there either!
This family is sure not making it easy to find them!
Any thoughts or ideas Thanks LUV
