Hi

Maybe someone can help me but I know it is a long shot.

I am looking for a Charles Edwards who came from Preston, Yorkshire to Australia.  I don't know when he arrived in oz or how. Huh 
He got married in 1853 and stated his birth place as Preston, Yorkshire, in Yass New South Wales.  His wife Mary Ann Keily arrived in 1850.
They had a pub in Yass, and Charles died in 1862, from too much alcohol.
Can't give a date of departure from UK, but  Huh
Any help appreciated

There is this one from the VRI, but unless you have more information such as age etc I do not know how you can identify him as yours. There were probably many with what is a fairly popular name. All the best, Frances

Many thanks for looking up the VRI - I don't have access to that, and it is possible that the Charles you found maybe him.
His death Cert. in 1862 said he was 42 years and 18 years in the Colony.  That puts his birth age as c1823.  From the birth cert. in 1858 of one of the children he says that his age is 35 so that would make his birth 1823 years and he was the informant on the birth cert. -
From his death certificate it appears he arrived in Aust. in c1844.  Can't prove it, though.
