SEARCHING FOR RECORD OF BIRTH OF ROSE O`ROURKE BORN APPROX 1905 LEITRIM. I DONT HAVE DETAILS OF PARENTS. SHE LEFT IRELAND EMMIGRATED TO NEW YORK. SHE MARRIED ?1929. SHE HAD NOT BEEN IN NEW YORK FOR VERY LONG AT THAT TIME. SHE WENT TO WORK AS A NURSE IN A BROOKLYN HOSPITAL.WERE DO I START

Hi Victoria,
start by looking for her birth in the civil registration index which is available at the GRO in Dublin or at your local family history centre. once you have an address, you can look for her and her family in the 1911 census. This is also on film at your family history centre and at the National Archives in Dublin.

I have just today received a copy of Rose Anne O`Rourke`s birth certificate. She was born 23/06/1905 Drumkeeran Co Leitrim. Her father was Patrick O` Rourke Rate Collector her mother was Mary Anne Leydon. No home address was given.
Is there any way to find history of rest of family. I have tried using 1901 census but it does not work for me, tried all methods but no luck.

Hi,
Have you tried the 1911? The townland of Drumkeeran can't be that big nd I would imagine a rate collector wouldn't move around that quickly.
Also try searching for siblings either side of her birth and see if they have an address for 1901 or 1911.
