Looking for descendants William Chalmers m.1700 Katherine Weir. Eldest son - Andrew Chalmer writer b. 1702 who married 1725 Euphrame Rankine and had 18 children! I have traced some of William and Katherine's children but not those of Andrew and Euphrame.

Hi Laura,
The best you can hope to get is a 'Proclamation of Banns' for them. If you're not familiar with this term, it's an announcement of the couple's intention to marry and is usually read out in both couple's parishes. The Banns are read on the three Sundays previous to the date of the marriage.
This you would possibly get from the Old Parish Registers from Scotland's People.
In most circumstances, all you get is a date, the names of the couple and their individual parishes. On the odd occasion you might get a father's name or an occupation.
As you know the date of their firstborn, chances are that they would have married around 1701, as you said.

i noticed your message and hope you don't mind my joining in with your thread but i too am looking for information on Chalmers from Edinburgh. I have a Hugh Chalmers married to Helen Wright on the IGI who had a son called Carstairs one of a list of children born to this couple in Lasswade Midlothian .when i looked on the IGi i find 2 Hugh Chalmers with the mothers name of Euphram .as Hugh had a girl with this given name i think one of them must belong to me but which one i don't know.their children where born between the years 1760-1781 .

12 children !!! poor woman!!!
