Hi an chance of a lookup for the birth of the following
JOHN SEWELL b 1886 dumfries
father John  mother Cathrine
i am trying to trace my g grandmother place of birth the above John is her grandson and according to the 1901 census he was born Dumfies

Those elusive Sewell's heh?

All the statutory registrations are on Scotlandspeople.  I've done a search and he is there I think but I can't view the image at work - not allowed to download :-(

The details are...
1 1886 SEWELL JOHN  M DUMFRIES DUMFRIES Ref: 821/00 0005

Now Fifer may have access to the cert for free, I don't unfortunately.

If the excitement is too much then you can open account at http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk and it will cost you £1 to see the image, though you have to buy £6 worth of credits. 

The image will give you (if it is a normal registration) the following main info..

Mother including maiden name
Father
Where and when born
Who registered
