Hi Rosy, my Pool (e) ancestors lived in the Alberbury and Montford areas of Shropshire- about 10 miles from Shrewsbury. Found the Joseph Pool in the Montford fiche but do not know if he was related to my Pools. My great grandfather was Edward Poole b. 1847Montford, his parents were William b 1805 Alberbury and Harriet b 1808. I believe William had brothers Thomas 1804, John1807, Benjamin 1812, Edward 1815, Robert 1817 and Sarah 1819 , all born Alberbury.
Best wishes,
Maggie

Dear Maggie

I am fascinated, as my grandfather had associations with Lichfield, and Shrewsbury.

I have no idea who HIS grandfather was.  I know that his father was JOSEPH POOLE who married MARTHA [possibly "Ree"].

My great-grandfather, Joseph Poole, was born in Shropshire but I cannot find HIS parents.

I am of the belief that the Reverend John Poole of ENMORE was an ancestor but cannot prove it other than a painting shows family likeness.

One of my cousins was PRECENTOR of Coventry Cathedral in the 1960s.  Does this ring any bells at all?

best wishes

Rosy

Hi Imison,

If you are still looking for info.

I have access to a definitive family tree of Rev.Thomas Poole, there is a direct descendant who still lives nearby, and the family historian has copious detail (much compiled by Re. Thomas Poole himself.).

I have an interest in the Ruscombe Poole branch of the family in Somerset.

I have details of a book written by Elizabeth Poole (1733 - 1819) called 'The Shropshire Journal of Mrs. Elizabeth Poole' - this details a visit by Mrs. Poole to her relatives in Shropshire - its actually a reprint of her diary.

If my recollection serves me, she must have been married to Rev. Thomas Poole's brother.

Let me know if any of this rings a bell.

Regards

Pete.
