 I need some help on trying to find the relationship or family ties I MAY have with this family.

This is what i have so far.

GEORGE PÔTTERTON  married CATHERINE SYSTON

Father of GEORGE was WILLIAM  POTTERTON b abt 1799 in ashby northampton.

GEORGE was b abt 1846 in Thurmaston leics. and was a ag lab.
CATHERINE SYSTON  b abt 1846 weedon norfolk  wife
CATHERINE E POTTERTON b abt  1875 in leics
GEORGE W POTTERTON  b abt 1877 leics
SARAH J POTTERTON b abt 1878  leics
JOHN T POTTERTON  b abt 1880 thurmaston leics.

JOHN T POTTERON  may have married a CHRISTINE ?? in ashby de la zouch

I found out that GEORGE POTTERTON  father had a grand daughter  who was born a selby. So this is why i am trying to find out the connection since some of my selbys came from leics also. Could anyone help me. I have looked at the IGI but found nothing.  Sad

I can help you out with this one!

The George and Catherine Potterton you mention are my Great Great Grandparents.

Just to pick up on a couple of points:
Catherine’s maiden name was ‘Taylor’, not Syston.
However, they lived at Syston at the time of the 1901 Census.

John T Potterton married Christina (?) and they lived in Ashby de la Zouch at the time of the 1901 Census.

George and Catherine had nine children, five girls and four boys.
One of the children, James Leonard (Len), b. 1882, in Thurmaston, Leicester , married Edith Sammon. They had one child: Patricia Doris (Pat) b. 1925.

Pat married Tom Selby in 1949.

Hi Gk, thank you , I was wondering if you know anything about Tom selby and who his parents were? As i said I have selby ancestors and am trying to find out as much as possible on them, I,d like to know if they were part of my tree directly or indirectly.

I'm not actually tracing the Selby line, so don't have any info relating to Tom's parents.
The only info I do have relates to Tom himself:

Thomas Harold (Tom) Selby

B. 20/10/1912 - Leicester

M. Patricia Potterton - 23/7/1949 - Holy Apostles Church, Leicester

D. 23/3/2000 - Royal Infirmary, Leicester

Oc. Planning & Estimating Engineer
