Well done Adam. It looks really good. Only thing I am not sure about is the counter linked like that and the tally going up with each page viewed. I don't think that will give you a very accurate idea of how many visitors you actually have. Signed your guest book. At least you have one. Echo Kris's point about the guest book - unless it's important to you that you can show off an inflated number of visitors!
If you want to assess interest you could try a search engine - mine gives me reports which show what people have searched for on my site. I got it from http://www.freefind.com/.

Hi Adam
My webcounter also increments by page view. Its not really a problem (it must be the way the Rootschat counter works?) and, like Julian, I use a web-based programme that was free (Statcounter) which I can access at any time.
The level of detail available from these reports is stunning - which pages were viewed, how the person found the site (the referring page), how long they spent on the site (a surprising number of folk spend less than 5 seconds!  ) and lots more.
Your website's looking good and I look forward to seeing its future development.
