hi im looking up for a friend , can anyone tell me where l can find information on gypsyies, he says they were from Merthya ,around 1881 his name was Tom (Thomas?) Lee he thinks he was married to Lidie? im looking for cencus information, any help??

No Poorer or Silas on any census.

Making judgements about LEE families on the basis of their accomodation (!)

There is a Sarah LEE & daughter at Gipsy Tent, Penyard, Dyffryn Clydach, Glamorgan in 1881.  she was from Norfolk

Next door are the WILLIAMS family Samson & Gavelina and their children.  Both families are basket makers.

Will have a look for PRICE families in unusual accomodation, but this is just a value judgement on my part!

Bearing in mind that "settled" families often had glamorous addresses like "number 8 hut"!!

There is a John PRICE & family, including PRUDOCK in-laws living Fairwood Common in tent, Llanrhidian Higher which is on the Gower.  He is a grinder and his s-i-l a sweep.

No others living in tents or similar.

I hesitate to select families on the basis of their occupation as this is not necessarily a reflection of their lifestyle or origins.
