Ship : China arrived NY 1871-04-20
« on: Wednesday 24 August 05 21:05 UTC (UK) »

Henry and Hannah Hine arrived in New York from England on the "China" on April 20th 1871.  Can anyone access passenger records to give me further details i.e. where they were heading?

Any help appreciated.

thanks

Hi Jacky

The manifest page shows ONLY that Henry was a mechanic,
Hannah was his wife, both travelled from England, their destination: USA, and that they travelled steerage.

Sorry there's not more. Undecided

Jacky,  I found Henry and Hannah in the 1880 and 1900 census.  Apparently, they settled in Alcorn Co., Mississippi--becoming farmers.  You can access the 1880 census at www.familysearch.org.  Click on search, click census, and fill in the blanks.  Hope this is what you're looking for---Genealiza

I see that Henry was naturalized. have you tried to find his nat records? http://naturalizationrecords.com/usa/ is pretty good.

Also you might want to find him on other census records The 1900, 1910 ,1920 and 1930 census identify citizenship status, with notations showing the individual was an Alien, or had started the Naturalization process or had his final papers. They also give the year of immigration.

1920 gives the year of naturalization. see http://allcensusrecords.com/usa/ for more help
