Looking for info on ancestors of the Starling family of Cowlinge.
My GGM was Matilda Starling, b 1873, daughter of Eliza Starling, b 1856, Cowlinge.
Eliza later married a Jabez Stubbings around 1879, and moved to Kirtling, Cambs. (1881 census info)
Eliza may have been previously married to an Arthur Starling in 1873. Her maiden name may have been Gypp. -- records from Risbridge records
I'd be pleased to find any other info.

Thanks for the info.
There seems to be a discrepancy in dates, as I have Eliza as being born in 1856, whereas your info puts her year of birth as 1853. The fact that her daughter was named Matilda, hints that her grandmother may have been the Matilda b 1821.

Census dates and ages can be notoriously different from census to census, so you have to treat that info with caution.

am looking for an Eliza Starling and am trying to work out if yours is the same one.There are a lot of Starlings around! My Eliza appears in Yorkshire in 1876 when she has an illigitimate daughter called Jane. The baby is boarded out with a family called Cordingley in Fairburn East yorks. Then Eliza disappears again until 1891 or thereabouts when the story goes that she asked Jane to meet her at the docks to go to America. Jane went there but never found her mother. I think that Eliza may have been in service in Yorkshire. Anyone any clues to this Eliza?

I have several Eliza's in my tree, though none have known links to Yorkshire. The majority of my extensive Starling tree is located in the small villages in the Newmarket / Cambridge area.

I am interested in knowing more about your Eliza Starling. There are so many of them on the Census that its difficult to know which one to track. Do you know for instance where she ended up. I know that the name is mainly East Anglia but they did travel all over the place for work. Do you have a Death date for her? What about children and who were her parents? I might be on the wrong tack but I have to follow up hunches. I have found a Death For a Jabez Stubbings in June 1887, so what happened to Eliza after that? I would appreciate any help you can give. Thanks.
