Diana Baker - who's her father?

Hi,

I'm trying desperately to find out the details of Diana Baker's father.

Diana Baker, b1849, Lydlinch Dorset
She married George Jeans in the late 1860s

Her mother was Mary Ann (not sure of maiden name), b1826/27 in Lydlinch

Diana had the following brothers & sisters:

John Baker, b1850, Lydlinch
Martha J Baker, b1853, Lydlinch
Samuel Baker, b1855, Lydlinch
James Baker, b1858, Holwell
Emma L Baker, b1863, Stock Gaylard
Albert Baker, b1865, Stock Gaylard
Sarah Ann Baker, b1870, Stock Gaylard

Any help finding Diana's and her siblings' father would be much appreciated.

It looks as though census returns won't tell us. I see Mary Ann, although down as married, has an occupation.

Perhaps the birth certificate would tell you more?

Hi Tanja,

Yes, it's infuriating that Mary Ann's husband is never there.

The only census return I don't have is the 1851. He might be in there with his family for that one.

Thanks for the certificate references for Dianna though.

You are both stars.

This has broken down a huge brick wall for me and I can now tie in about 46 of Daniel and Mary Anne's descendants into my tree. The details of Daniel's mother from the 1841 adds the final bit of proof about who he is.

As an afterthought, I wonder what Daniel did that kept him away from home on census nights 1861/71. I still can't find him on these censuses Huh

(I think he died between 1871 and 1881).

The 1851 census might find him at home with the family, if anybody has it.
