Has anyone this famoly in theur tree?William Hart Mann b1844in Pimlico married Mary Anne Light in Chelsea in 1868. All children were born in Chelsea and were Louisa1869, Mary Ann1871, William Joseph1872, Augustus1874,Elizabeth1875,Henry John1877Ada 1878, Alfred Hart1889 George1883 and Charlotte. William died in 1888 . I do not know where the family were in 1891 . All but Mary Ann the wife are on the 1901. I know that Williams father was also William Hart Mann and his mother was Mary Cronier.I do not know any further back and wonder if anyone can help. Any 20th century history would be helpful too'

Alfred MANN 12 born Chelsea.
George MANN 7 born Chelsea.
Letty MANN 4 born Chelsea.


In the 1871 Census they are at:
13 Keppel Street Chelsea.

William H. MANN 27 born Pimlico Painter
Mary A. MANN 21 born Pimlico Seemsdress

Many many thanks for the census on my Mann ancestors.I knew my great grandmother was a widow by then  and knew there was another child called Charlotte after George but could find no recird if her.She would have been a year old when her father died.

Hi There.

I don't know if it is any help to you, but I have found your  Mann family in 1891

They were living at 46 Parkville Road, Fulham.

Mary Anne       40              Widow       Dressmaker
William J          19                                                                         
Augustus        16               both were ironmongers assistants
Henry             14               Scholar
George            7
Letty               4

I will look for marriages, which may bring you more upto date.
I have Manns in my family, but  they lived in Leeds, Yorkshire,
and the story is they were of German stock. I haven't even
started on this side of the family-----YET!!

Hello Again.

I didn't realise that you had already ha a reply to your "posting"
just call me impulsive!!!

However, Augustus Mann, born 1874. March quarter, Chelsea,
Volume 1a page 320. (this will give you details of address etc)

Married 1901. December quarter. Fulham. Volume 1a page 686
bride was either Ada Clara Rayman, or Julia Johnson.

Perhaps, if you can get on to  freebmd, it will give you the exact bride. Because of my "firewall" this site will not let me acsess (sure I've spelt that wrong)  any information.

Thanks for 1891. What I really want now of this elusive family is their whereabouts in 1851 and 61. My ggrandfather William Hart Mann died in 1888 and his father William Hart mann before 1868. My ggrandfathers mother was Mary Mann (neeCronier). There are few Cronier around  and although I keep looking at the birth cert I cannot make another name other than Cronier. I m only going to find out where my gggrandparents came from by the census. Williamcould well have come from Yorkshire? I think the middle name Hart may be significant.
