Hi Sue

I have some Abingdon records and may be able to help however could I clarify some of this first

Is William James the son-in-law of Harold Frederick Richards? or the other way round.

and is there an age given on the death certificate?

I will see what I can find - though Hinksey is a separtate parish to Abingdon

Hi Sue

I am afraid all I can find is that there was a William James of about the right age in Abingdon in 1901 (the last available census) - this is him with his family

Dorcas James abt 1860  Famley, Berkshire, England Wife  Abingdon  Berkshire
Doris James abt 1898  Abingdon, Berkshire, England Daughter  Abingdon  Berkshire
Esther James abt 1892  Abingdon, Berkshire, England Daughter  Abingdon  Berkshire
George James abt 1889  Abingdon, Berkshire, England Son  Abingdon  Berkshire
Joseph James abt 1857  Abingdon, Berkshire, England Head  Abingdon  Berkshire
Marion James abt 1900  Abingdon, Berkshire, England Daughter  Abingdon  Berkshire
William James abt 1894  Abingdon, Berkshire, England Son  Abingdon  Berkshire

Unfortunatly I only have marriages up to 1900 so I don't think I can help you much more until you get a bit further back
