Death of James Meggison, after 1802, Durham
« on: Saturday 03 September 05 22:55 BST (UK) »

James was the son of Robert Meggison and Jane Davison.  James was born abt 1780, baptised in Sedgewick, and married in 1802 in Haughton-le-skerne in 1802 to Sarah Butrick.  Can't find him after that, or more children other than Robert born in 1802.  Wonder if he died  between 1802 and 1829, when son Robert was married in Canada. Other theory is that Sarah died, and James remarried to someone called Margaret (Peggy), who was given as Robert's mother when he emigrated.  James is not mentioned when Robert was married.
Any information appreciated.

Age fits perfectly as James was christened Mar 28, 1780.  Darlington is not too far from Sedgefield where he was born and Haughton-le-skerne where his son was born.  I have a suspicion that james was married twice.  Does it give a wife's name?  I'm really hoping that it does.
Thanks

Hi Minor,
Would you be able to find the death of Sarah Butrick, James' first wife?  May be 1802 after birth of son Robert or soon thereafter.  Just a guess.  In Haughton-le-skerne. That would help me so much.  I would be so appreciative.

The NBI only gives details of burial, no relationships mentioned.
There is this-
17 Nov 1859 Sarah Meggison, age 62, Darlington Holy Trinity

Hi Minor,
This would not be Sarah Butrick Meggison as the age doesn't fit.  However, I do have other Meggisons I can check.  Thank you for your efforts.
