McInnes of Balluchulish
« on: Sunday 04 September 05 04:41 UTC (UK) »

My ancestor Angus McInnes was born in 1825 to Agnes McColl and Duncan McInnes (Both of whom were born in Lismore). He emigrated to Australia possibly with his brother John in the 1850's. He lived at a place called New Park which I haven't found. I would love to know more about this family? Are there other McInnes from Balluchulish out there?

Thanks Geoff for your efforts  but I have my Angus marrying Elizabeth Rankin in 1874  in Victoria and John McInnes came to Melbourne  Australia married to a Mary Bennett. Seeing as you have indexes could you please look up any children to John and Mary. it shopuld be the Emerald Hill area in Melbourne. I would be very grateful
Thanks Keera

Hi Keera,

Unfortunately my indexes, the Australian Vital Records, cover Victoria, but are are not very informative.
There are hundreds of children born to a father named John McINNES.

These indexes do not tell where these events took place, just that it was in the state of Victoria.
It doesn't help that the mother is not listed as a parent alondside the father.

You will need to locate someone who has the Victorian State Government indexes.
These are far more informative and should give you what your after.

Cheers
