I am seeking information about my gt grandmother MARY HANNAH GRANT (nee COPELAND

her brother William Francis Copeland, settled in Leicester with his family from around 1891.
Mary Hannah married George Nelson Grant, and I can find no trace of her after 1881 census when she was in Perth Scotland, with her husband and daughter Mabel (my grandmother) I would love to know what happened to her, my grandmother was sent to Canada as an "orphan" in 1889.
She later told the Home authorities that she was NOT an orphan, her father was alive & living in Birmingham, she made no mention however of her mother, she did remark that her GRANDMOTHER had died, but where was her mother.

In the 1891 & 1901 census, husband George Nelson was noted with a wife named ANNIE, I cannot find any trace of a marriage, she was born in Bermondsey. But my gt grandmother Mary Hannah was born in Derby.

Can anyone help with this puzzle? I would be so grateful for any bit of information, thank you
