I would very much appreciate a lookup in St Werburgh (Anglican) records please
William CARNEY or CORNAY was born in or near Dublin Castle in about 1799. This date is calculated from his death certificate so may be a couple of years out either way.
Would be REALLY grateful if anyone could take a look and see if his baptism is there. He is known to have had 2 brothers (at least) but it is William I really want to find.
Thanks in advance Marion in Wiltshire

Further to my request, I am pleased to say that I have been sent details of the baptism of a William CORNY at St Werburghs in 1776, the only C*RN*Y baptism between the years of 1770-1785. Very interesting and may well be my man!

Hi Christopher
Thanks for your response. I have kind of put this to one side as I really don't know what to do next! I do have a possible candidate for my ancestor, William CARNEY, baptised at St Werburghs, Dublin in 1776. However I am not able to confirm that its the right man. My chap had 2 brothers, but there were no other C*RNEYS baptised in that church in nearby years, and I'm not sure what to do next as I'm researching from England.
"My" William is supposed to have been born at Dublin Castle which I understand is not just the building itself but the surrounding area also.
Family legend has William linked to the earlier CARNEY "Lyon king at arms" family but I can't find any hard evidence for that.
Any suggestions welcomed
regards, Marion

Hello there, I have found that I am related to Carney from Dublin named Peter and Nicholas. They were coach builders by trade. Lived on Cole's Lane. Any info is welcomed. Celticmoon

hi celticmoon,
marionjl has not been online for a while (2006), so it might be best getting this post separated off to your own thread...
in the meantime - what approximate years did your Carney's run their business ?
