Birmingham Baptisms 1815-1826
« on: Saturday 29 November 08 11:33 GMT (UK) »

I am seeking the following baptisms, children of Joseph & Mary SANDERS. Joseph was in the gun trade, so would most likely related to the church serving the area of the gun quarter:

Mary Ann (c1815)
John (c1816)
Joseph (c1819)
elizabeth (c1826).
There may be other children between 1819 & 1826.

Thanks,
Mark

Hello Mark
Many thousands worked in the Gun Quarter and lived all over B'ham.I have found a marriage for Joseph Sanders to Mary Ashford 1814 in Edgbaston which was not far from the Gun Quarter, but no christenings.IGI doesn't have any of these listed which is odd as B'ham is quite well covered. They may be from another denomination not listed but would have to have been married in the established church for it to be legal.

Thanks, Jim.
That is their marriage. I've never found their earlier children before the first confirmed children bapt 1828 in Loughborough. I had assumed Joseph as a gunmaker was apprenticed there.
Raises the possibility the family were not in B'ham in the earliest days of their marriage, although later census give B'ham as POB. 1841 says they were outside county (LEI).
