Hi Bee,

This link lists places holding archives in the Yorkshire and Humber area.

http://www.archon.nationalarchives.gov.uk/archon/searches/locresult.asp?lrgn=Yorkshire%20And%20The%20Humber

Personally, I've used the East Riding of Yorkshire Archives and Records Service in Beverley and the Hull Central Library Local Studies Department and found both very good - can't remember if they hold the records for St. Mary's, I would assume they do but it would be best to check before visiting.  I believe that the Hull City Archives are good too, I've only used their postal service but have no complaints.

Hi Bee

The records for St Mary's are at Beverley at the Archives there.  Hull Central Library only have Holy Trinity, and Sculcoates transcriptions.

Hi Kristin,
thanks for doing the look-up, I'll make a note of the info, it could well come in handy for the future if I can get that far back.

Hi John,

Thanks for that info, I seem to recall one of my Gees was a hosier.
My Gee's have been on the back burner quite a while now, it's maybe time for me to have another look at them.

thanks again

I have an Eliza Gee (no place or date of birth) married to John Henry Ambler in Hunslet Leeds in March 1910.  I have no further information as to this couple, except that John Henry was my great great uncle.  I have information on his family but none on the Gee side.  Is this any relation to your ancestry?  Regards Maeve

Hi Maeve,
I don't think there's any connection as my Gee ancestors don't seem to have strayed outside of Hull, but I'll keep you in mind if I find any moving across to West Yorkshire.
