Frederick Crossland was born 1817 in Lenton  to Ann Crossland a servant girl. I have an extensive service history for Fred as he joins the army at 17 and travvels the world .

I would love to follow up on Ann but am stuck , she was single in 1817, any hints on how to find out when she was born etc.
I have noted on the IGI that there is an Emma Crossland born to a single Ann Crossland in 1820 but this is in Chichester.
Any ideas?

What other info do you have about Ann ? For instance do you know her parents etc ?

Sadly I have been able to find very little on Ann . I have Fred's baptism record tht just says mother is Ann Crossland Servant.
Fred was still in the Nottingham area when he signed up to join the 46th regiment of Foot aged 17 years 10 months in 1834.

Hi Debbie, I found the baptism of Frederick which you already know of, I noticed the surname was spelt with only one s, Well there is a marriage of a Ann Crosland (one s) in 1819 which looks interesting.

Cotgrave is 6 miles away from Lenton

i did not realise Lenton and Cotgrave were so close , I'll try following up Ann daughter of William and Ann and see if she can be accounted for anywhere else.
