Judy Morland protestation on 22 August 1641 and 6 March 1641/2: Thomas Richardson (43rd name) Robert Richardson (47th name) of approx 145 names.
There are no Richardsons in Cliburn. Deborah

Judy It was supposed to be "all men" but in some places only men between 18 and 60 took the oath. The ones who refused to take the oath were supposed to be listed and sometimes womens' names were included in this extra list.
There is no recusant list for Morland and no statement of coverage.
There is a statement for Cliburn (oath taken on 9 March 1641/2): "These are all that are within the parish of Cleburne and there is none within the said parish that did refuse it."
I don't know anything about the land tax of 1700. The book I have does some population comparisons between the protestation returns and the hearth tax of 1671 (available at the PRO?). I compare with the 1674 hearth tax which is online.

Judy The returns are not broken down to that level of detail (and only include East and West Wards) and I think are based on ecclesiastical districts.
I assume Crosby Ravensworth encompasses Reagill and the CR returns include several Richardsons but no way to tell which are from Reagill: 1st column William Richardson churchwarden Thomas Richardson churchwarden John Richardson cunstable William Richardson overseer of the poore Lancelot Richardson John Richardson Rowland Richardson 2nd column William Richardson Thomas Richardson Thomas Richardson
There are no Richardsons in returns from Shap or Little Stickland but there are some in Appleby (which might encompass Colby?). Let me know if you want these details.
I have an interest in Richardsons in the CR and surrounding areas but I have not yet started investigating. My husband is descended from Hannah Richardson who married John Salkeld in 1773. I may ask for help when I get to her. Deborah

Judy Sorry I didn't read your last request properly!
I cannot find any Kerseys in the returns.
There are Hansons in Orton and Boulton only.
In Orton, it is recorded whether the men marked or signed: 2nd column George Hanson (marks) 5th column James Hanson (marks)
and in the 3rd column there is a Roger with illegible surname.
And "maide by the men of the Townshipp of Boulton from eighteen yeares to threescore": John Hanson Thomas Hanson
regards Deborah
