« on: Wednesday 07 September 05 22:37 BST (UK) »

Please can anyone help find any information about my Grandfather Albert Arthur Taylor
info I have
Marriage certificate 1912 Birmingham England
bachelor, over 21, fathers name George Taylor.
Death certificate 1971 Birmingham England
date of birth 13 September 1890  place of birth Australia.
search has been done for all states for this name and date with no success . where can I look now?
Is there a shippin list for passengers traveling from Austalia to England between 1890 -1912 , or any census that he may be on
any help or suggestions would be appreciated

Hi wooy

With regards to outward shipping lists - for a return to England each State would have their own. Victoria's records are not indexed and ship and year would need to be looked at which is not viable.
There are no census' available in that time period, they have been destroyed.

Does the marriage certificate give an occupation for Albert and his father George?
What was his address at the time of his marriage? Who was living there in at the time of the 1901 census.
Who witnessed the marriage? Could they have any connection to Albert?
Do you have any idea of his mother's name?

I checked the National Archives and there are a number of Albert Arthur Taylor's listed.  The only one I couldn't rule out, was born in Sydney NSW but no DOB, his next of kin was his wife Helen Victoria Taylor.

Cheers
Genni

Hi Wooy,
There are a couple of Albert TAYLORs in NSW around the right time, but only a couple with father George.  I suppose you've already looked at these, but just in case...

11445/1881      TAYLOR      ALBERT WILLIAM      GEORGE      MARIA AMELIA      DISTRICT: DUBBO
23985/1882      TAYLOR      HAROLD ALBERT      GEORGE      MARTHA      DISTRICT:  PENRITH
15975/1891      TAYLOR      ALBERT      GEORGE      EMMA        DISTRICT:  HAMILTON

There is a total of 43 Albert TAYLORs born between 1880 and 1900 with father other than George.

At least if the Aussies can't beat the Poms at cricket, we still have the superior vital record certificates!!!!  One glance at an Australian death certificate would have given you all the information you need.  Grin

Had a look for marriage of a George TAYLOR in NSW, but there are so many it would be impossible without some idea of mother's name.  THere were no TAYLORs marrying DAVENPORTs, though  Cry

I found this family in 1901:

Welton, Yorkshire

Edward JOHNSON  Head  Wid  80  Retired Saddler Yorks, Patrington
Richard W JOHNSON  Son  S  41 Saddler  Yorks, Patrington
Annie E TAYLOR  Daur  M  34  Yorks, Patrington
Arthur L TAYLOR grandson  S  5  Australia, Queensland
Lilian A TAYLOR granddaughter  S  1  Australia, Queensland

RG13/4473  Folio 6 Page 4

It would be worth looking on the 1901 for Annie's Husband who is obviously elsewhere, and to ask someone in Queensland (or with access to Queensland records) to look for Arthur's and Lilian's births and a marriage for Annie E JOHNSON to a TAYLOR.
