My grandfather John Henry Smith was born 29th August 1892 at Wall Lane, Lichfield.
His father was Henry Charles Smith Occupation- waggoner. He was born 1862, as down on his marriage certificate 26th June 1892, he gives his age as 30yrs (if this is true). He was also a widower (can't find first wife)
second wife was Annie Louisa Hancox(Hancock).
The address then was Sandford Street, Lichfield.
His father (my gt.gt.grandfather) was Henry Smith
Farm Labourer, but at the time of the afresdaid marriage, Henry was deceased.
I found a marriage for Henry Smith to an Eliza Oaten,
St. Michaels, Lichfield. January 3rd 1859.
I also found 2 christenings for Henry Smith,
one from Ancestral File, 24th July 1839, St. Chads Lichfield, and one from IGI, 24th June 1838.
St. Michaels, Lichfield.
On the 1861 Census he is down as being born abt. 1834, and he is with an Eliza (wife), which is St Michaels, Lichfield, also the same for 1871.
What I am asking is, do you have any way of finding out the correct birth for Henry Smith and if the marriage to Eliza Oaten is correct, or is there anyone out there searching the same Smith family??
Sorry to land this one on you, but I knew I was going to have a big problem with this.
