Still looking for the elusive Garfields

School house
« on: Thursday 08 September 05 21:20 BST (UK) »

Hi I hope I have the right board, my geography knowledge of Scotland is not the best.

I have downloaded a death cert 1924 from a nursing home in Edinburgh that gives normal residence as Schoolhouse, (Kingross ?hard to read), North Berwickshire.
A google search for Kingross keeps giving me Kinross (Perth?)
Can anyone help please, would there be a pic of the schoolhouse  anywhere? Or any information?
Many thanks, Sylvia

The place you are probably looking for is Kingston, just outside North Berwick, East Lothian (North Berwick is not to be confused with Berwickshire). On www.old-maps.co.uk search for Kingston, and you will be offered a choice from a list. Choose the one in Haddingtonshire (the old name for East Lothian). The school in Kingston is marked on that map.
