1925 Rose Lilian Carter aged 20 (b.c. ? 7th march 1905) m. Arthur Ernest Mitchell. Roses father was Roland James Carter. Rose had three younger brothers that I know about, Ernest and Jim and a professional boxer Midge Carter (Thornton Heath) and one sister, Elsie who is possibly still alive and living somewhere in N.Z. I cannot find any birth or marriage certs. anywhere except for my grandmother Rose marriage cert and was hoping that someone recognized these names in around Surrey area please? Roland James Carter may be buried somewhere near Mayday Cemetery in Croydon(?) along with his wife , name unknown. I would be so grateful if anyone would contact me with any info however small if they know or recognize these people in their tree?

Do you have Rose's birth cert? Or can't you find hers also.
You have her date of birth. Is this correct?

Hi Sue,
The date of birth is one given to me by an unsure relative. If that date of birth is correct then Rose lied by 4 years on her marriage cert as did her husband Arthur Mitchell. I do not know where Rose was born I have only the fact that her husband was born in Kent and her brother 'Midge'  Carter was a boxing Pro. in Thornton Heath during the twenties. Her address on her marriage cert is given as Herne Hill as is her husband Arthurs. Midge Carter possibly spent some time in prison but when and where I don't know.

On the Birth Index, there is NO Rose Lilian Carter born for Jan-June 1905,
so maybe Rose was telling porkies on the marriage cert       Wink

there is a birth for a Rose Lilian CARTER
Year 1907 Qtr June District: Poplar Vol 1a pg 549

If you apply for a copy of this birth cert stating Rose's Fathers name
& it happens to be incorrect, you will only be charged a small fee.
