I was in an antique map store here in Ottawa the other day and I noticed something that might be of interest to someone with ancestors from Hammersmith. It was a hand-drawn map of part of Hammersmith, dated 1786, with annotations about owners of the land and various other notes. I can't seem to find the same street names on a modern map, but maybe it will mean something to someone with local knowledge. Hammersmith Church is in the bottom right corner, with Church Lane along the bottom, Angel Lane running up the left side, and the London Road across the top. The shop owner is asking $950 (Canadian), according to the price tag (that's 439 pounds). I would be happy to go back to the shop for another look if someone would like more specifics. Or PM me for the address and phone number of the shop.
