Hi Folks
Anyone out there who could put me in the right direction of the following persons please

Douglas Benson
and
Blanche nee Southcott

Blanche lived in West Ham/East Ham areas, Essex England, married to Douglas in 1946 in Ilford Essex, daughter Sallie born circa 1950 about the time they emigrated to Australia. A relative has been searching for them, believed to be in Queensland but no sure evidence.

I am hoping to put this family in touch with a family member  who also lives in Australia, this person does not have a computer and so I am helping them, I am related to her .

This is probably their immigration record
Benson, Douglas Henry; wife Blanche [nee Southport] and child Sallie Margaret - departed Tilbury on the RMS Otranto on 14 June 1951 - arrived Brisbane 24 July 1951

I am so impressed, a HUGE thank you for your prompt reply, my relative has been searching for this family for a long time, there are cousins.
I wonder how I can go about finding out if their daughter Sallie Benson got married, it is an unusual spelling of the name Sally.

Do you think the SMH notice would be your lady? If so, I can probably check the paper next week - the notice may contain family names - some do & some don't. My favorite funeral notice mentioned 9 children - all in birth sequence, giving me all the girls married names  Cheesy  Cheesy  Cheesy

Apart from that, finding a marriage at that time in Oz will not be easy. The registry records are not available. One of the Sydney newspapers does have a section for finding relatives - it has been mentioned on an earlier post.

I would be very grateful if you could check this out for me, I am not sure if there were any more children but the first child was Sallie, an unusual way to be spelt so perhaps that would give a HUGE clue.

Sadly, I don't think the SMH is your lady - its a great notice for finding family - but there seems to be no daughter viz

Benson Blanche Agnes - July 17, 1976 at hospital, loved sister of Nellie, Louisa, Ethel, Mary Lillian, Alfred and Frederick (all deceased) and Aletha, and loved aunt of her nieces and nephews.

A huge thank you to all the suggestions and help I had via this web site, My cousin who lives in Australia has tracked down some of this family since these emails.
