blackburn family.
« on: Saturday 10 September 05 16:08 BST (UK) »

Hi, can anyone help me find descendants of Thomas Blackburn and Ann Richardson married 1868 in Whitehaven, they lived at Arlecdon, and had seven children, the last two sons Herbert born 1881 and John Willie born 1885, have no father's name on their birth certificates. About 1901 some of the family, and their Mother, went to live with their Uncle Benjamin Richardson who had a draper's shop in Barrow in Furness.
Thank you, Margaret.

Hi
I am not sure if you have the 1891 census but here it is.
RG12 4312 F67 p29
Skelsmergh Arlecdon
Ann Balckburn Mar Hd 42 Charwoman b Egremont
Jane Ann da 21 b Rourall??
Herbert so 9 b Winder
John William so 6    "
Ardina? da 10 months b Winder
By 1901 Herbert is with his sister Sarah and family still in Arlecdon
Ann and Aradina? are with her widowed son in law Edward Burrows and his children in Arlecdon.
Interesting name for the last child.  Not one I have come across before.  There is a birth for Aradina May Blackburn on FreeBMD.

Hi, thanks for that info, I have seen the 1891 and 1901. Herbert emigrated to America later that year, he returned to live in Barrow in Furness, marr. Margaret Gould in 1908.
I don't know much about the other children, but I think Aradina May was born before Jane Ann married.
thanks again, Margaret
