Found the marriage of Ann Riley to James Hunt
1.7.1844 St. Alkmund, Derby.
James Hunt age 24    Father  James Hunt
Ann Riley      age 19    "          Joseph Riley

These ages  match Ann Hunt (Riley) in 1851 Census and James Hunt in the 1841 Census, Horsley Woodhouse.

 Smiley Thanks Meriel.  I think she names "James" as her father in the marriage certificate.  Do you have access to this? Should I send for it?  I am interested to see who Henry names as his father- this is a whole other line that I have not done.

Im afraid that is the only info the BMD index gives but does allow you to order the certificate with the reference (makes it cheaper!). I think it would be worth it just to confirm for sure that James is her father. Also if you are planning to trace Henry's ancestors at some point then you will have his fathers name as a starting point.

If you do decide to order it...please let us know the outcome!  Smiley

Thanks to everyone who has helped me with this search.  As the summer draws to a quick close, I will be heading back to Babcock Middle School in Westerly, Rhode Island; with limited time to devote to the passions of genealogy; yet  continue my primary passion- teaching children to read.  When you teach a child to read, you open the world for them...and in doing so, they too can explore the stories and tales of their own ancestors.

Hello everyone!
I received a lovely snail mail letter today from a Mrs. Richardson from Heanor, Derbyshire.  She was kind enough to send me the Birth registration of a Hannah Cresswell.  Hannah was born /registered in Belper, subdistrict of Horsley on  May 2, 1852 to a James Cresswell and Sarah Cresswell (formerly Brown). Do you think this is my Hannah?
Mrs. Richardson also sent me my ggrandmother's birth- Sarah Ann b 1 April 1878 in Wainsgrove, Pentrich.
I still am not sure that this Hannah is the correct one.
Any thoughts?
