I've not edited my PROFILE yet

I have just joined The Durham and Northumberland Family History Society at The Family History Fair at Gateshead Stadium today and wonderd if i can access any records on line,i took it for granted that i could but it doesnt seem to be the case.It looks like i have to go to Bolbec Hall at Newcastle every time i need to look something up,or am i wrong can i get information on line.Anne.

Hi Andrea,what i ment was,can i access BMDs on line from Northumberland and Durham Family History Society without haveing to go to Newcastle for information.It was my own stupid fault,i should have asked them first if i could access their info on line instead of presuming i could,never mind,lesson learnt.I did see 1837.com there but they havent got Northumberland on line yet so thats why i didnt join them.Thankyou Audrey for your reply.Anne.

What a shame I didn't get to meet you today 
I was thrusting leaflet's at people at Gateshead.
Unfortunately the English and Welsh researchers aren't as lucky as the Scottish. They have to order the certificates using a reference found at the site sillgen posts (or freebmd).
The records offices will probably have the records on film but the GRO won't let them put them online.

I see you mean specific to Northumberland & Durham FHS. It maybe worth emailing them and asking what their plans are for putting indexes online.

Hi Pam,i wish i had known you were there,you have helped me a few times on the Dumfrishire board and i would have loved to have shook your hand and thanked you personally.{I am a terrible speller as you will have probably noticed}
Maybe i did see you i got all the leaflets that were being handed out or at least i think i did.I had a great time but didnt get to see everything as there were just so many people there i couldnt get to the tables to view everything.I will get there early next year,couldnt even get parked and we were there for 10am,it was a nightmare.I am going to the one in Yorkshire on 12th November,will you be there.Anne.

Newcastle City Council have BMD indexes on line for many but not all years as does Durham County Council for the area covered by modern day Co Durham ie not Gateshead , Sunderland etc.
