Girls' Christian Names : "Greve"

Hi everyone

I have a 1901 census in Llangarren Herefordshire, listing a daughter as Greve Partridge born c 1899 in Llangrove.

Seems a very unusual name; can't seem to find it on BMD, baby names or Welsh names sites. Anyone have an idea if this might be short for something?

Have just had a look at the entry and I would say it was meant to be Irene Grin The writing isn't of the best and you can't blame the transcriber for putting Greve. But I think the first letter is an 'I' going from other names.

Wow Nessie thank you VERY MUCH! Cheesy I did wonder about transcript since they put her dad down in Loodrish (Goodrich)! Fisgured it could have been the writing.
