I am looking for BENNETTS from Islington and Lewisham. They eventually moved to Chelmsford Essex.
Any info would be gratefully received

Hello Woowoo,
Welcome to Rootschat.
I think you're going to need to give us more details,if you'd like some help 
Such as the years you're after- census records or BMD's?
And some names would be helpful too.
Post whatever you already have and one of us will help to find a bit more info for you. If you have them in the 1881 census for example please put it up on here so we have a starting point.
I'm sure lots of us will help once we know what you want

Are you saying that this is the date all of them died?
What about when they were born- how old were they when they died or were born ?What's the relationship between them all- brothers and sisters, or are some the parents? If the girls married they won't be Bennett's will they?
I looked up the James Bennett who died in March 1894,to try and get an idea of age,but cannot see one on 1837 who seems to fit,either in Islington,Lewisham or Essex.
We might be able to find some of them on the 1901 census(that's the most recent one so far released to the public) and if so we should be able to track them further back.
The 1881 is available free of charge on http://www.familysearch.org/ by clicking on to Search at the top of the tabs.
It will be difficult to trace anyone born since 1910 as the indexes are not free after this date.I'm afraid it will be a hard slog through the 1837 online (pay per view) to find marriages and subsequent children.Not impossible though
Going back to 1861 should be relatively easy- unless your lot like to hide on census night(we've all got some of them  )

HI there
Do you know who Walter James married? As there are two births on Free BMD of Elizabeths who could fit.One with mothers maiden name of Miell and one with Gove.Both in Dec 1/4 of 1911.
Have also found his birth in Dec 1873 Wandsworth ref 1d 570.
As yet cannot pinpoint him on either 1881 or 1891 censuses- unless he's the boarder in both cases together with sister Charlotte?

Boy that was quick. Walter was married to Elizabeth Sarah Gove. I have Elizabeths birth abt 1875 and married 5/3/1894 Fulham. Her father was James.

Here's the birth of your Elizabeth then,from Free BMD which is not fully transcribed and at the moment only goes up to 1911 on the whole.
Births Dec 1911
Bennett Elizabeth L Mothers maiden name Gove ref Lewisham 1d 2074
All the rest will be viewable on the pay per view site http://www.1837online.com/Trace2web/
Not having much luck with any of them on any censuses I'm afraid 
What job did Walter do,and was he ever known by his second name of James?

Rovert,
The Bennett family you have found in 1901.is living in Lewisham ref RG13/553 folio 97 page 31.
Dad Walter is a builder and both of them are down as being born in 1868.
Mum is Clara not Elizabeth and they have kids ...........

I have Walter James Bennett born abt 1873 and I have his marriage date to Elizabeth Sarah Gove as 5/3/1894 in Fulham. Their children were Jimmy (?) Walter(?), James Walter John 27/2/1907, Elizabeth L abt 1911, Edward W abt 1913, Charles H abt 1914, and Joseph H abt 1916. Walter James Bennett is my mother in laws father so I know that is correct.
So now I am confused
