Would anyone know if there were any Kirkcaldy families living in the Berwick borders region in the early 1800s.I am trying to trace my GGGGGrandparents,both born around 1780/90,there names were Thomas Darrie and Janet Kirkcaldy,their 1st child George Darrie was born 1816ish i think Coldingham or Greenlaw.I cant seem to find any reference to the Kirkcaldy from the borders.Any help appreciated.Anne.

Hi Anne,
I had a look in the BVR's and found only one Kirkcaldy family. They were Alexander Kirkcaldy and his wife Catherine White. They had two daughters, Elisabeth born 29.5.1836 and Janet born 25.4.1838 in North Berwick but this Janet would be about forty years too late
All the earlier families were in Fife.
I looked for the birth of George Darrie, father Thomas, but didn't find any with mother Janet. I did find the following though:

P.S. There are two Kirkcaldy graves in Denny Cemetery in Stirlingshire.
Elizabeth Kirkcaldy died 29th June 1995 aged 89 (dob c1906) and James Kirkcaldy died 8th February 1930 aged 67 (dob c1863). If you want more details of these, just let me know, I have the full inscriptions from the stones and photos.

Thankyou for the info,i have seen these families before and the more i see them the more convinced i am that George Darrie and Agnes Bell are Thomas parents.Regarding the Kirkcaldys it would be very nice of you if you could give me the details on the burials of these Kirkcaldys,it will give me something to work on.Thankyou so much for your kindness.Anne.

The following are the inscriptions:
In loving memory of WILLIAM KIRK DUNCAN died 15th March 1957 aged 56 years
Beloved husband of ELIZABETH KIRKCALDY died 29th June 1995 aged 89 years
In loving memory of my dear husband JAMES KIRKCALDY
Died 8th February 1930 aged 67 years
Also his wife MARGARET PATERSON died 17th August 1998 aged 82 years
I have a photo of each stone but I've tried posting images before and failed miserably!
