Thanks Sunflower That could be them. It would be good if I could get the census record as it might help sort out if it is them. I am trying to work out if the Lucy HOUGH who married Thomas ALLEN 31 May 1852 Saint Werburgh, Derby is my William HOUGHs sister. Her father was John per her marriage and I have found her on the 1871and 1881 census and living with her is her mother Ann HOUGH ba 1801 Mugginton Derbyshire. 1861 1871 1881census have Lucy ALLEN ba 1833 in Osmaston Derbyshire. I suppose what I really need to know is if there are any other Lucy HOUGHs ba 1833 Derbyshire on the 1851 census. Thanks Leonie

Hi again Leonie
There are two other Lucy's in the 1851 census index. One born abt. 1820 and the other abt.1837. The one born in 1837 is not living at home so I can't say who her father was. The age for Ann seems to fit with the information you already have.

Hi Leonie I checked the 1841 for you again. Looks like you are on the right track as the Lucy born circa 1837 has father Samuel and the only other besides yours born 1833 was born 1820 so too old. So looking good . Cheers Jan

Thanks so much to both of you. It is looking better all the time, the thing that throws me a bit is that on the 1841 census it is indicated that Ann HOUGH was born out of the county where as Muggington is in Derbyshire. I think I need to see whats on the the 1851 census record. Cheers Leonie

Hi Just checked that 1841 entry for Ann Hough, definitely N for out of county. As you say you need the 1851 entry to clarify things. Hope you sort this out. Cheers Jan

Hi Gary Thank you so much for all your work I truly appreciate all your help. I was having trouble sorting out the HOUGHs from Osmaston by Derby and the HOUGHs born near Osmaston near Ashbourne. How confusing
Do you know if Saint Oswald, Ashbourne was the Parish church for Painter's Lane as a Lucy HOUGH father John and mother Ann was christened there in 1832. Thanks Leonie
