finding a person

We would like to try and find a person in Halifax but don't know where to look.
He lived at Ovenden Terrace - not sure when - within the last 20 years.
His name is Edward O'Donnell and he had a son Edward J b 1957.
How would we go about finding him ?

No O'donnell in Ovenden Terrace according  according to the Bt directory

Also in www.halifaxtoday.co.uk we tried to place a free ad but you need to live in the UK to do it - we are in Australia.

Try just writing the request as a "letter to the editor" of the paper.  Airmail only takes 5 to 7 days to get from the antipodes to the UK usually, so it should get printed within a couple of weeks of you writing (unless there are a million more interesting letters to the editor that week).

How about an e mail to the Local Studies Library at Halifax ?

They'll probably have the electoral roll for the period.

Thanks for your input.
A lady on our MLFHS list phoned an O'Donnell on our behalf and he turned out to be the brother of the person we were looking for who is no longer alive.
We now know the family details.
