I added the webcounter script (as given in the excellent tutorial links) to my index.htm but it then replaces the whole page with just the counter and a link to rootschat!
I suspect this is because index.htm contains a frameset. I put the script in the <head> element - should I have put it elsewhere, or even on another page?

A web counter needs a second or two to load from the web. If it is at the top of the page, you will probably notice the slight hesitation when loading.
If it is at the bottom of the page --- which is normally off-page, till you scroll down --- then the delay won't be noticed.

If you use a web counter within a frameset it is generally better to site it within one of the non changing frames (e.g. a menu in one of the left hand frames)
The html code for it should be within the "body" tags of the page it is to be sited on.
