I There......
Can someone kindly help me with this one
In March 1842 , my 4x great grand parents married
Jane Coulthard , was a servant at Raughtonhead , and her father was GEORGE COULTHARD , a cooper , of Castle Sowerby.
I would like information on both of them in 1841 , and if possible , George in 1851 , just to see if he was still alive . I am , of course , hoping to find him with a wife and other children on either of the census .....
Kind regards Jeannie

Hi Ange.........
Yes , I realise I have "posted" this request before , but all the information I got back , was regarding my "Taylors".
I just thought I would have another shot at my "Coulthards" Its worth a try .
I am going to the area , end of September , and I want to go fore armed , as they say . I will have a husband in tow so the more info I have , the better , just so he doen't lose his patience !!
He is very good really , spends hours on his own , whilst I am at my research , don't think he relishes doing the same on holiday !
Kind regards Jeannie

:)Hello
Hope these are your Coulthards.
Census 1851 - Castle Sowerby - Greystoke Parish - Cumberland.
Mary Coulthard, widow, age 80yrs (Mother-in-law).
William Coulthard, married, 39 yrs, born 1809, Dalston, died 1876 Castle Sowerby, Farmer of 107 Acres.
Catherine Coulthard, married, 36yrs, St Cuthberts.
William Coulthard, son, 12, Westward.
Robert Coulthard, son, 5yrs, Dalston, born 22 March 1846, also on the IGI census 1881, with family and half-brother.
Mary Coulthard, daughter, 2yrs, Raughton Head, Castle Sowerby. Born 2 January 1849.
I noticed that there are other Coulthards at Westward, therefore I'm not sure if William is there son.
Regards Louise Lorimer

Hi Louise......
At this moment in time , the only thing I am certain of , regarding my Coulthards , are the details on the marriage certificate of my 4x grandparents .......
a) That her name was Jane Coulthard B) That her fathers name was George Coulthard , a cooper , who stated to be of Castle Sowerby .
This was in 1842
I am looking at it now
Witnesses were . Ann Brown , Thomas Sewell , and Margaret Taylor , who was the grooms sister ......
I am really grateful for the help you have already given , re my Taylors ........I will keep this new info , and hope I can put the family together........
Thank You Jeannie
