I have just found out that at least one branch of my family stayed north of the border. Thomas Towlan born 1847 and Janet Black born 1946 had a large family, Mary Ann 1868, jane 1870, William 1872, George 1875, james 1877, Margaret 1879, Thomas 1881, John 1885 and Janet 1885.
If there is anyone researching this family I'll be pleased to hear from you.
[email][ Hi Chris Mary ann Towlan married Robert Kerr in 1887, sailed to Australia in 1889. Robert Kerr and Frances Kerr (my Great grandfather) were brother's,
I keep in contact with Beryl who is the grand daughter of Mary ann Towlan.

Hi Chris I'm off to work soon I'm on night's tonight and tomorrow night, but i will get back to you. Here's a little bit of information to be going on with.
John Kerr and Janet Rodgerson were Robert's parent's, Thomas Toulan and Janet Black were Maryanne's pearent's. Robert and Maryanne arrived in Brisbane on the 24/05/1889 and later moved to Roma were Robert worked on the railway and Maryanne had a dairy farm, they had 9 children Thomas,Janet, Mary Jane,Isabella,Robert,David,Edward ,Margaret and Mavis. Robert died 28/01/1926 aged 62 and Maryanne died 16/04/1994 aged 77. Next time we talk I'll tell you about my side of the family, and i will get intouch with Beryl
(in Australia) i know she would like to talk to you. I live in Gloucestershire looking for my root's in Dumfriesshire . Kerr,Harkness,Johnstone,Fraser,Davidson,and Stevenson.

married James Hartley on 10/07/1916.(5)Robert Kerr died 08/07/1982 age 84,
married May McKenzie on 27/03/1929. (6)David James Kerr died 1961,married
23/06/1928 to Elizabeth Johnstone. (7) Edward George Kerr bn 19/05/1914
died 13/02/1995, married Phyllis Brinin on 20/03/1935. ( Margaret Kerr bn
01/08/1907 died 07/12/1981, married Frank Wheeler on 03/06/1929. (9) Mavis
Kerr died 31/10/1939 aged 29, married Francis Brinin 06/10/1930.

John Kerr married Janet Rodgerson 0n 29/05/1863 at St Mungo, children all bn St Mungo Marion bn 16/11/1863, Robert bn 13/03/1865 (m) Mary Anne Towlan,Francis bn 08/01/1867 (m) Harris Duff (nee Fraser) on 25/11/1885,William bn 03/08/1869,David bn 01/07/1871, Isabella bn 07/06/1873 (m) John Kerr on 07/09/1894, John bn 06/05/1876 (m) Mary Alston on 19/05/1905,Thomas bn 28/04/1878, James bn 04/07/1880. My g.g.grandparents were Francis and Harris Kerr. All this information was given to me by Beryl Giles (g.granddaughter of Mary Anne Towlan) from Australia.
