George was a widower when he married Susannah Lynn in 1847. Two of his children are born prior to this marriage, the first one being Elizabeth Brown Meggison, born 1840 in Sunderland. I have checked for Elizabeth's birth on freebmd, durham record office, and familysearch without luck. Durham records online is offline. So expect a marriage to female Brown, possibly Elizabeth, between 1835 and 1839 which I didn't find. Can anyone help? Thanks so much. Everyone has been so great. Peggy

Because of the way the enumerator has written the entries it's not clear if the Brown of Elizabeth is a second name or a surname. Could be either.

Thank you kindly, Helen. Can you explain to me, at the end of the census, it has NIMMO, and below that Elixabeth, servant ........... What does that mean? Peggy
Elizabeth Nimmo was a servant in the household. It's just the way I list the names - Surnames in capitals and forenames underneath. Sorry for the confusion.
