Geddes and Langlands in Angus

Reasearching Geddes from Glamis/Forfar/Arbroath and Langlands at Forfar. Earliest Geddes Wm born c1770 spouse Margaret McDonald, children born from 1797 to 1814. Unable to trace further back than 1770.  Earliest Geddes's are spelt Giddes.Any hints would be appreciated.
