Hi Tricia
Just checked the Free BMD. Found marriage of John Richard VANSTONE and Emma Louisa RATTENBURY in Mar 1841.
John Richard is the fathers name on John Francis VANSTONEs marriage cert.
Many thanks for finding the correct parents.
Thanks Arno

I don't know what I think - this family is a real pain
The entry for 1861 is how I have posted it - quite clear. In 1871 however it appears like this
16 Dockwall Street Stoke Damerel
John R Vanstone 1820 Devonport, Devon, Head, Sawyer Dockyard Emma S Vanstone 1822 Devonport, Devon, Wife Adelaide M Vanstone 1854 Devonport, Devon, Daughter Elizabeth A Vanstone 1844 Devonport, Devon, Daughter John H Vanstone 1859 Devonport, Devon,Son Susanna G Vanstone 1864 Devonport, Devon,Daughter
Francis J has disappeared and has been replaced with John born same year with second initial looking like H. If this is him this is my 2nd search today where first names have been changed around on the census.
RG10/2128 Stoke Damerel Folio 28 Page 11
The couple you mention on 1871 appear as you stated but not on 1861 with those birthplaces of Plymouth for him and Stonehouse for her. I would suggest they are the wrong couple.
The only way to sort this is to send for birth cert of Francis John but nothing is that simple. I cannot find a birth for Francis John but I can find one for John Francis that would fit. Don't think the parents could decide what to call him Now, would you like the details for this birth or would you like me to check 1837 online to make sure this is the only birth that fits??
You are welcome to any of the census images. Just messsage your Email to me and let me know which you require.

Hi Tricia
Many thanks again for all your efforts - really fantastic work !!
I will digest the new info and up date my tree.
Just one last request could you see if John R VANSTONE b1820 and family are on the 1851 census? Also John G HILL b1832 and Mary Ann BROWN b1836 - although I think they were married after 1851??
Regards Arno

You are welcome
Unfortunately I don't have access to the 1851 census. Suggest you post a seperate request as chances of anyone picking it up on this one is a bit remote.
Good Luck, Tricia
