William Henry Wiltshire, Sparkbrook, Birmingham
« on: Saturday 17 September 05 15:04 BST (UK) »

I am looking for more detail on William Henry Wiltshire born 1836 in Sparkbrook, Birmingham. I would especially like details of his parents.  He married Caroline Morris in about 1858. They had three children William Henry 1859, William Thomas about 1861 and Lily Rose about 1873.

William Wiltshire (the elder) was a pointsman on the railway in 1859 and by 1871 was a Policeman. He died in 1889 in Railway Terrace, Balsall Heath, Kings Norton.

Any information I could add to this would be very much appreciated. Thank you for reading.

Debbie

Sue

Thank you very much for that. It looks like it might be the same family - from this I can find two of the children on the LDS website.

Thank you for your help - someone else has also sent me the marriage index reference which I had not been able to find before.

Regards

Dear Sue
I have today received a copy of the marriage certificate of William Wiltshire and Caroline Morris in 1856. This showed hos fathers name also to be William and one of the witnesses to be a Harriet Wiltshire - so I think the family you found is the correct one.

Is the 1841 census for this area something that is available on line as I would like to try to find Caroline Morris with her father John, who I believe where in the same area.

AT some point I will try to get to Birmingham to see if I can see the parish records for St John in Deritend and Bordesley, I have read about how the church was formed on the web and it is an interesting story. If I get to see the records I might find out about William and Charlotte if they were married in the same church as some of their children have been christened.

Thank you so much for your help.

Sue

In later census records Caroline's birthplace shows as Bewdley - so I think the first one may be most likely.

Thank you for your help - I will now try to find some reference to this family on IGI
